London:"The Crown" star Claire Foy and "Succession" alum Matthew Macfadyen are set to headline "You Are Here", an upcoming television adaptation of David Nicholls' bestselling novel of the same name for the BBC and Starz.
The eight-part romantic drama has been adapted for the screen by Nicholls, known for "One Day", "Us" and "Starter for Ten", and will be directed by Lenny Abrahamson of "Room" and "Normal People" fame.
According to the makers, Foy will play Marnie and Macfadyen will essay Michael, two lonely middle-aged strangers who are brought together by a mutual friend and unexpectedly embark on a coast-to-coast walking trip across northern England.
"As a huge admirer of David's writing, I'm delighted to be collaborating with him to bring 'You Are Here' to the screen. The novel is such a beautiful love story -- funny, profound and ultimately deeply hopeful. I'm also extremely excited to have Claire and Matthew, two actors I hugely admire, playing Michael and Marnie," Abrahamson said in a statement.
The series follows the pair as they navigate loneliness, companionship and an unexpected romance while trekking from England's Lake District to Robin Hood's Bay in North Yorkshire.
Nicholls said he was thrilled to reunite with the BBC and collaborate with Abrahamson on the adaptation.
"The intention with the novel was to write a close-up study of a relationship, but set against this magnificent landscape, and that's our ambition here too; to make something both intimate and epic, funny and dramatic, a romantic comedy with real emotion. We can't wait to bring Marnie and Michael's journey to the screen," he said.
Produced by Element Pictures, a Fremantle company, "You Are Here" will be filmed in the Lake District and around Manchester.
The series will be executive produced by Nicholls and Abrahamson along with Foy, Macfadyen, Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe, Emma Norton, Jonny Richards and Anna Ferguson.
